No, I was a shrink not a vet! (Sorry, poor taste!) Yes I was on the Royal Air Force pay roll for some 18 years (1976-1994) through university then 9 years in uniform (dizzy rank of Sqaudron Leader/Major) then 5 years as a civil servant doing my own job as there was no-one to replace me!
If I were years younger, I would have loved to purchase a small church, temple, mission (or bank!) or bank and convert it into a private residence. I would have utilized a hodgepodge of decorating styles, including an eclectic mix of Victorian, French aristocracy and tricked-out bordello. Before moving in, I would host an event for the American Humanist Association (or American Atheists) and make sure there were plenty of libations so as to purge the building of any remnants of religion (a ‘reverse exorcism’ if you will). Like homes in Carmel-by-the-Sea, my home would be named and not numbered (probably something along the lines of the San Rafael Asylum) and hence I would have to retrieve my mail from the local post office (as they do in Carmel). Seeing as I am enamored with downtown areas, ideally, my new home would be within walking distance of the post office. One can dream, FJ.
Ah well, the technology has defeated me and the previous comment has ended up in the wrong spot.
I did want to comment here though … and what I wanted to say was … this is the first time on WordPress I’ve really wished there was a ‘like’ button in the comments!
Love the pic Mr. FJ. This is a well dusted and AC’d place of worship, Calif. Mission. So many pictures you could have posted, but this is very “jelly”.
Beautiful light, I think it captures that feeling of peace/sacredness far more than that of something sombre, which is what I usually associated with places of worship (when I’m not associating fear that is…!)
This is one of my favorites of all time FJ. Save it for me for when I hit the lotto. Such a dark shot to begin with done in black and white is stunning.
Fundamental Jelly is operated, for no apparent reason and to no useful purpose, by Robert J from a small home office in Northern California. Robert J is a wildlife biologist and once witnessed a clown pick up dog poop with a spoon.

Very atmospheric… can I ask what the flag is? (18 years with the armed services still shows I’m afraid)
Are you a vet Dave?? I think its a Spanish flag…my guess anyway. Thanks.

Wow, a major, that’s jolly good Dave. Bully!!
Now I’m off for some jellied eels before bedtime.
Do I dare ask what a jellied eel is?
It’s an English treat that looks gross…and probably is gross.
I used to love jellied eels when I was a kid. They almost melt in the mouth.
Really???
Jellie eels?
FJ—see what you’ve started here???
Bedtime, it’s more like early brekkie for you! Sleep well.

What have we done to deserve this? It’s not even Friday (is it?)

Haha, I’ll provide you with a button ( * )
Thanks Kirsty.
So peaceful – I wanna be there. If it’s dusted and has A/C.
Its clean and cool PV, so I think you’d find it to your liking…thanks.
I audibly gasped when I saw this. So beautiful, FJ. I would love to have this hanging on my wall (especially if my wall were dusted and had A/C).
Haha, better get on that!
Thanks J.

Aahh!!
Sshhhhhh, I feel like I have to whisper so as to not break the impressive stillness and quiet….
Yeah, kinda like a library, thanks Tracy.
Clint is up in the bell tower with his pistola . . .
Wait! Don Henley is singing “. . . I heard the mission bell ring . . .”
Whew. Fast flashes there of American pop. Thanks, FJ. I love places like that. GREAT picture.
Haha, I am tempted to post odd photos just for your response Dan. Thanks for stopping by “The Daily Photographic Rorschach.’
Excellent!
Beautiful (as always) sir!
Many thanks Robert.

I get that Ruby, thanks.
Nice shot FJ. Bob’s your Uncle!
Huh??
It’s an English saying… “Bob’s your Uncle” kind of means “and there you have it!”
Lovely shot, Mr Jelly.
Thanks synchy…dude, when are you going to get back to posting pics? Soon I hope.

And I think that San Rafael is pissed.
Thanks Scott, I’ll set one aside just for you.
I’m with Scott. It’s so stunning that after staring at it for a good ten minutes earlier, I forgot to comment.
That’s so B.
Great mood and tonalities.
Sweet, thanks Lynn.
