Since this was shot on US (?) soil, I’m calling it Branta ameridensis (I hope bschooled is down with that).

I hate to pull taxonomic rank, but it would probably be named Branta americanus. And Bschooled wil sign-off, she loves America. HA

I do love America!

Especially your junk food (Theobroma cacao americanus).

Yikes! Blame it on the insomnia (internal-combustion ‘issues’ late at night)…you can pull rank anytime FJ :-)

This post would have been fun if you had not titled it. I know I would have never guessed it! Quite appropriate title, though.

Nice composition and the shadow/reflection of the bill is excellent!

Thanks Dave…it might even be good enough for a ‘silly pic.’

Crazy angle, FJ. I love the contrast.

You make me proud to be canadensis.

Haha, and apparently you crazy Canadians have a pretty good hockey team too.

You know how I feel about ornithology. Don’t make me get my witty (but insulting) banter.

While living in Minnesota, we often ran into these geese, who summered at the local school, shitting on everything. They kind of gained the reputation that seagulls have in San Diego. Ill-mannered and hungry.

Still, it’s a beautifully composed shot, FJ. Dizzying, even.

Haha, they do shit all over the place and their poop is like dog poop. Thanks amigo.

Yea, puns give me goose down syndrome.

The bird’s-eye shot (pun intended) is unbelievable. The open water adds such a powerful atmosphere to the arrangement. I have to say that this is one of your best shots ever, FJ, in the short time I’ve been following your blog. It’s a ornithological talisman for all of us.

I know I always say it but I really do love this one FJ. I love the minimalistic shots the best. What does that say about my mind?

Thanks Scott, I think it says that your mind is a finely tuned creative juggernaut…you know, something like that.
