After shooting a series of photographs, I typically download them and quickly review the lot, looking for stuff I thought was interesting. I rarely delete anything, so pretty much everything I shoot is still in a folder on my computer. Periodically, I go through these files frame-by-frame (we’re talking thousands here) and see if there was something I may have overlooked. I did this bit of photographic Kabuki again today and sure enough I found several photographs I had previously ignored. I have to admit that finding one of these little overlooked gems gets my pulse to hammer, its like finding money on the ground. I honestly don’t know if anyone else will see them as interesting, but I do and that’s something I can’t quite adequately explain. So, after further review, here are a few photographic stepchildren for your amusement.

Sacramento County, California 2008
Yosemite National Park, California 2009
Placer County, California 2008

San Luis Obispo County, California 2008

San Francisco, California 2009

The animal shot immediately got the song “I’m Alright” rambling through my noggin.
Thanks.
Of course you do G, Caddyshack is a classic.
Uh 4th photo did you walk up on an active crime scene?
I kinda thought the same thing.
I love your step children! Meself…a just posted posted a few of my own last night and the coincidence is uncanny. Although, well, I didn’t put it that way:)
Love the Placer County shot. So simplistic..but well..I cannot explain..and so I am gonna do away with words right this minute!
Thanks Shipra, great to see you. I am heading over to see your Hawaii pics and so should everyone else!!
#4 looks like evidence in a murder.
CSI was called.
Did you not watch any of the OJ trial? Photo #4 needs to go missing…immediately. Fortunately, this might be one time in your life where your narcolepsy might just get you off the hook.
Yeah, maybe I can claim I was asleep when I captured the image.
#1 and #4 inspire an almost lonely-type feeling, it’s hard to explain. #4 reminds me of every time I come out of a blackout for some crazy reason.
I love them all!
Cool, thanks Scott. I’ve never had a blackout, what’s it like?
It’s a lot like waking up in the desert and finding bloody, shredded garments scattered about. Plus you have a headache.
I like the new form of squirrel camouflage.
A chipmunk parading as a squirrel…it must be working!!! Nice to hear from you Josh.
Placer county shot is my vote.I love that one.
Mine too.
1, 3 and 5 all have their Lynchian qualities. I’m also with Josh on the squirrel camo. I’d like the ability to go all blurry when threatened.
I thought you had that super power already CLT???
No. You’re thinking of “swear-y.”
I just wanted to give CLT props for a Lynch reference. I daresay 4 could be from the car accident scene in Wild at Heart. Except that, clearly, it’s a uterus made of fabric. http://www.netterimages.com/image/2946.htm
Sorry, FJ. I couldn’t help myself.
I love how your mind works, FJ.
For some reason I’m drawn to Placer County and San Francisco, but they’re all brilliant.
My favs too…its that great minds thingy again, right? Thanks B.
Pic 1 – The quiet chair
Pic 2 – When Chip said goodbye to Dale
Pic 3 – Shadows of trees cast no stone
Pic 4 – Werewolf attack
Pic 5 – Where’s the bar? I’ll ask the cleaning lady…
Perfect RR, thanks.
just keep thinking that the chipmunk thought you were taking a portrait of him and !!PHSYCH!! you were shooting a landscape he was just in the way.
I agree with Timm, I like the Placer photo! Its mellow yellow and I really like the tree shadow. So, I’m assuming this Step Child is the one you like too!
By the way, the “photographic stepchildren” line is frigin brilliant!
TaTa…see you soon Bro! Like three weeks dude!
Jumped here from madhatters.
Very much like the snap of the single empty cafe table chair, what stories it might tell, if only…
Exactly Dave, thanks for stopping by.
