The Prosaic Camera

5 09 2009

I thought about posting the usual Photo Friday pics yesterday and decided it was becoming somewhat redundant.  Because I have been gone so much over the last two months, this platform has become more photo centric and it seemed silly to post several photos during the week and still have a Photo Friday.

So in its place I plan to run several re-occurring themes with The Prosaic Camera being the first.  The Prosaic Camera will be a series of photo couplets, a sort of photoblog diptych.  I also plan to do some more fictional writing and possibly an essay on my photographic philosophy.

I’m not sure I like your banal tag, because nothing you do is, but I do like everything else. So which side is the ‘real’ Incredible Pizza Company?

My point exactly PV, thanks.

Business in the front, party in the back…

I can’t wait to see what you bring us next, FJ.

I love how they call the front of a building like that a “facade”. It says so much.

I hadn’t thought of that term, but you’re entirely spot on Claire. Thanks.

I like the ladder up to the smoking section. You know, for taking a jay-break between rushes. I’m guessing the weeded dishwashers were unable to stop the graffiti artist and were forced to cover the damage with the closest color available: water-meter gray.

This is why I love the Capitalist Lion Tamer. Thanks CLT.

I like you even more now that I know you must have waited tables. You really are a writer, aren’t you? “Rushes” and “Weeded.” Are these intentional plays on words having to do with being a server? Of course they are. It’s you, after all. Silly question.

This almost seems like a set for a really bad, low budget comedy movie. Once again excellent titles and the photography doesn’t suck either. You have a great mind, a little twisted, but great. Thanks for the entertainment and visual candy.

Ok so down to technical photo stuff… way to hold the shadow detail in the rear shot. Perfect exposure in the dark and light tones! A+

Is it supposed to look like cheese? Because it does. Cheese, topped with horror, just the way I like it.

And Timm is right on about the light. It’s so crisp. Beautiful.

“Cheese, topped with horror”, what a perfect line, BKT!

I was pulled in by the promise of “incredible pizza” and found myself out back an hour later giving it back.

The front is unimpressive. The back, however, reminds me of home. Not sure why.
