I know, I know, its like I can read minds.

Kreskin move over! I love your eye for the absurd (your titles kill me as well) thanks for the entertainment.

I know what you’re thinking.

yeah the titles are groovy man ;-)

Thanks nursie.

Entropy…HaHa! Good one FJ!

even after having to look up entropy, it still was a mystery to me, so I think the photo explains it much better. thank you.

I love the idea of entropy. It makes me feel like a contributing part of the universe. I also love your titles, and your eye for the ordinary. You make it interesting.

Thanks BK.

Oh come on everyone knows what entropy means!

Entropy is an information theoretical concept applied across physics, information theory, mathematics and other branches of science and engineering. When given a system whose exact description is not precisely known, the entropy is defined as the expected amount of information needed to exactly specify the state of the system, given what we know about the system.

In thermodynamics, the entropy is intimately related to the internal energy of the system. Given that there are a large number of molecules in the system, there are a huge number Ω of quantum states available to the system. Boltzmann gave arguments in favor of the hypothesis that for an isolated system, the probability distribution over the set of available states is a uniform distribution in thermal equilibrium.

The standard choice for the constant k in thermodynamics is the Boltzmann constant kB = 1.38066×10−23 J K−1.
Entropy is central to the second law of thermodynamics. The second law in conjunction with the fundamental thermodynamic relation places limits on a system’s ability to do useful work.[6][7]
The second law can also be used to predict whether a physical process will proceed spontaneously. Spontaneous changes in isolated systems occur along with an increase in entropy.

ok, I may have plagiarized… Have a nice day!

Soooo, what you’re sayin Timm is, theoretically the “system” is totally messed up cause FJ didn’t give us enough information? Right?
I hate it when FJ tries to trick us!

That’s kinda what I was thinking.

Timm, you lost me at “physics”…

FJ, what I wouldn’t give to be a fly on that creative latter-cranial wall of yours…

I have flies in there already…you may find that a tad awkward. Thanks Ms B.

My good friend, maybe a Shell Pest Strip would do the trick.

Geez, Timm, I was gonna say that.

I had to get here fast to beat you to punch BG! You were probably working out sprinting while carrying 120 lb tractor tires or some crazy thing so I was here first!

Not quite up to tractor tires yet. Timm. Have worked my way up to vw off road Baja tires. :)

Entropy – If you leave those two cans there for billions of years, and add a few lightning storms, eventually life will not spring up.

Something like that.

I’ve been a fan of entropy for a long time. The definition I prefer is: “Inevitable and steady deterioration of a system or society.”

I may not know thermodynamics, but I know what I like.

I’m also a fan of nail clippers. To wit: “A nail clipper or nail trimmer is a mechanical device used to trim fingernails and toenails. Nail clippers are usually made of metal.”

Awesome stuff, FJ.

Thanks CLT, always great to see you.

Leave the cans of paint on the roof long enough and it will paint itself.

I wonder how long those cans were up there? Which would deteriorate faster if left out to the elements, the paint cans or the grill?

Let’s put them under the shade of the trees in the bottom.. hmm I guess that wouldn’t work.

entropy refers to the amount of molecular disorder of a system. molecularly speaking, it is easier to be disorganized than it is to be organized. there is only a few ways to be organized making the probability…well…improbable. where as, there are many ways to be disorganized, thus favoring entropy. any change in entropy is represented by the greek letter delta (think equilateral triangle) and with a capital “S”. “S” is expresssed in units of calories per mole times kelvin [cal/(mol*kelvin]. example: solids are more organized thus entropy is low. gases are more disorganized thus entropy is high.

you should have a socratic seminar on this dad!
ps i didnt plagerize.
