Verbage

Pen and Ink on Colored Paper  -  2009

Verbiage.  Words.  Complete sentences.  I don’t have time to form them in cohesive chunks at this juncture.  The vagaries of career and family leave little time for this right now.  But this to shall pass on or about July 15th.  So for now, I am including another photo and a jpeg of a drawing I completed last year.

Its Like This

23 06 2009

I wish it were otherwise, but I will be slammed for the next ten days with fieldwork.  When I am not walking long, hot transects and losing electrolytes at dangerously high levels, I will be reduced to stupefaction by doing too much of this:

Carrizo Plain

So, in the meantime, I’ll leave you with one more photo to ponder.  I promise not to turn this platform into a photoblog and will hopefully have something interesting to report when I get back.  I will try to get in a little commenting if I get a chance.  Thanks for your patience.

What I Believe

16 06 2009

Since I have to leave in the early morning to spend the rest of the week in the goofus bushes of the desert, I thought I would at least post something before I left.  I thought about doing this last week and came up with some funny stuff, but I didn’t write anything down and plum forgot them so I had to come up with new ones today.  Anyway, I believe:

  • …that Elvis died taking a shit and is still dead.
  • …that lemmings are more open-minded and individualistic than is commonly thought.
  • …that clowns have heat vision.
  • …that when my wife and I leave for work, our two dogs actually do play poker.
  • …that Obama will win this election and become president.
  • …that Lawrence of Arabia was really from someplace else.
  • …that when anybody mentions anything about the Olsen Twins or Rachael Ray that the terrorists win.
  • …that cliches are lazy and boring and should be avoided like the plague.
  • …that there really is a bridge of hope and wonder.
  • …that bread makes you fart and I know this because the other day I ate some bread and a short time later I farted.  (this is empirical science)

I would be interested to know what you guys believe in, so leave a comment with couple of your own.  For Alan Truitt that means at least ten.  Thanks, and I’ll check-in this coming weekend.  Have a great week!

Chill

13 06 2009

I have had a exhausting few weeks doing biological field studies and have been informed that I still have five more weeks to go. So, when I get home on the weekends I don’t feel much like doing anything let alone posting on this blog.  The photo below, which I shot last fall in Maui, captures how I feel.  I will do my best to post a few things, but bare bear with me over the next month or so.
