Work-Space Photos 3 – The Gimcrack

26 05 2009

The third installment of work space photos belongs to our favorite nurse down under—NurseMyra and her bizarre and funny Gimcrack Hospital blog.  The Gimcrack Hospital (where the nurses are pretty and the doctors are pissed) is home to wide variety of medical and sexual curiosities.  NurseMyra also has a fine collection of corsets she models on most Fridays.  Given her interest in medicine, I expected her work space might contain beakers and jars of formaldehyde with odd things floating around in them, but alas it looks much like our own spaces, except for what appears to be a large ear in the bookshelf.  Anyway, thanks for sharing NurseMyra.

It is indeed a cast ear, a study from one of Stephen’s installations

I love the pin up girl statuette on the bookcase. Does she sing the “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy?”

And I think I would claw my eyes out if I had a mirror beside me while I work.

But I find myself supremely jealous of all your neat, tidy, book-laden work areas. Someday. Someday…

ha ha…I was wondering about the ear too. hmmm…let’s see I can choose to hang the mirror or the pictures but I can’t do both.

Nice!

I too love the pin up girl statuette on the bookcase. May I ask, what is the red object by the monitor?

I love the way the CDs are organized alphabetically. Everything from ABBA to Zappa, Frank. That takes care of the first and last CDs. In between it looks like every K-Tel compilation ever released.

CLT, after that cutting, catty comment I’m afraid of what will happen when you see my workspace. Is it too much to ask for you to sheath your sword of contempt?

What if I make you a postie from polymer clay?

Sorry about being catty and cutting. I spent the day with Bob Barker.

Personally, I like the colour. Very soothing.

I also like that there are framed pictures at floor level. The freakishly short also enjoy art and it’s time people recognized that. Well done, Nursemyra.

Ha, ha, ha! Way to stand up for the freakishly short, Don. They’d do it themselves, but, you know, who would see them…?

Nicely said. Short and sweet.
